“I know people are saying we should have left things the way they were, but I changed after 9/11,” the GOPresident told NBC News correspondent Richard Engel. “I had to act. I don’t care if it created more enemies. I had to act.” Now imagine what the allegedly liberal media would do if a Democratic politician or leader claimed he or she didn’t care that their actions had made the country less safe by creating for us more enemies.

“Bill Clinton … made a special appeal to young people, who have been a bulwark of Obama’s support,” reports The Oregonian. “He said many of them could expect a long life span, and that Hillary Clinton would increase funding for research into health issues affecting the elderly.”
Because if there’s one thing that brings the kids to a candidate in droves, it’s promising them something that won’t benefit them for another sixty years.
This evening, the top story on CNN Politics is about Hillary telling voters to “think about this as a hiring decision”. Not only do they not appear to have a story about Obama speaking to a crowd of 75,000 people in Portland, but in that story about Hillary they simply report this: “Obama made low-key campaign stops this weekend, hitting a street festival in Keizer and stopping for ice cream in Eugene.”
“Portland Fire and Rescue,” reports the AP and KGW, “estimated that 60,000 people were gathered inside the bowl at Waterfront Park and another 15,000 were outside.”
Addendum: Here’s a good look at what that many people crowded into that part of the park looks like.
Addendum: I know we’re supposed to be gearing up to be all unified and shit, but do you think Hillary even in her wildest and wettest dreams could draw a crowd like this?
“Before dropping out of the presidential race, John Edwards secured a private commitment from Barack Obama … that [he’d] undertake a poverty tour during the general election as the Democratic nominee,” reports TPM Election Central. “An actual poverty tour … would be a specific, protracted undertaking, possibly with Edwards himself, … [and] could be a major media event.”
“For the first time, Bush revealed a personal way in which he has tried to acknowledge the sacrifice of soldiers and their families,” reports Politico. “He has given up golf.”
“I just want to report that this morning I personally checked John McCain’s bearings,” proclaimed Senator Joementum. “He has not lost any of them. They are all in really great shape.”
“Clinton picked people for her team primarily for their loyalty to her, instead of their mastery of the game,” reports Time. Her much-vaunted chief strategist, for example, mistakenly believed that the Democrats awarded their delegates winner-take-all rather than proportionally — and then stuck with the strategy based upon that incorrect belief anyway.
Now, imagine Hillary governing the same way, by picking people based upon loyalty rather than knowledge and ability. Isn’t that what the GOPresidency has been doing for the past seven years?
Desperate to prove that she really is as screwed up in the head as many of us believe her to be, Hillary Clinton proudly boasts of how “working, hard-working Americans, white Americans” (as opposed, you know, to the lazy black ones) support her and not Barack Obama.
Josh Marshall boggles at “the widening gap between reality and [Hillary Clinton’s] campaign trail statements” and asks the question her ditto-head voters won’t ask themselves, and the press won’t ask her: “Where are we going here?”
