The last report I saw was that Sam Adams was saying the tram cars would be here last Thursday. The rumor I’m about to pass along may or may not be true, and may or may not have been reported elsewhere, but here we go.
According to an overheard conversation at Ross Island Grocery & Cafe, the tram cars are in Vancouver (possibly the one in British Columbia), because they reportedly are the only items on the barge, and the operators of said barge don’t want to come down the Columbia wirth only two pieces of cargo. Allegedly, the cars are going to end up going via Seattle to San Francisco, from which they will then, somehow, find their way here.
So, to those in the know, or to those who might have seen a report more current than the one from last week which I linked above: Is this overheard rumor true or false?
Addendum: I’m told that there’s a photo caption in today’s Theo: “The tram cars, which had been slated to arrive by now, are expected to arrive about Oct. 30. The ship they were on was running late and got diverted to Canada.” Since I rarely look at the print edition anymore, the above overheard conversation was the first I’d heard any version of the delay.
