As an employee the proper response when one customer tells you that some other customers need your help is not, as related by a friend of mine today, to laugh and ask, “Are they Asian?”

Well, yes and no. Customer service in the big box stores, as I’m sure you’re aware, is far from top-flight. People love their low prices more than they love good service. If they didn’t, Home Depot, Wal Mart, and their ilk would have all gone out of business long ago.
